Best Tacos in Asheboro: El Mil Taqueria.

I top each taco with epic amounts of their awesome smokey hot salsa.

I'm still hoping that one day Liberty will have it's own little taco stand, but til then, when I'm in Asheboro, there's only one place worth eating: El Mil Taqueria.

There's something special about an order of $5 steak tacos with extra corn tortillas, making them into eight lovely red and green loaded salsa with cilantro and onions. This is real Mexican street food. For awhile I thought El Mil had closed, but they just moved to another part of the shopping center and expanded into the adjacent shop with a Mexican supermarket.

The menu is simple, delicious, and I can order my pineapple drink with the best darn tacos in Asheboro. I can only describe it as a roller-coaster of flavors that leave my taste-buds screaming for more. To be completely honest, considering the value, and quality of the food- I'd almost be willing to say this is not only the best taco stand in Asheboro, but the best restaurant in Asheboro.

The Mystery of Big Hole Road in Chatham County

Unbeknownst to many, only twenty minutes from the outskirts of Liberty, lies a government project shrouded in secrecy. It may sound like Stranger Things in real life, but hidden on Big Hole Road near Jordan Lake, AT&T Project Office NC-1 remains active. Before you start to speculate of aliens, gravity machines, and time travel, let's do some research first. The Project Office itself was built in the mid-1960's; featuring shock-absorbing spring foundation, steel and concrete blast doors, rubber plumbing, and tropospheric scatter antennae , a technique to send radio signals slightly farther. For security, CCTV and steel crash barriers were also erected. More recently, a moat has been dug around the complex.  The name "Big Hole" travailed from the amount of earth dug during construction, giving the project an estimated 13 underground storeys.
